Vegas evenings

We got all set up in the Oasis RV Park and decided to head to the strip.  Oasis is just off south Las Vegas Blvd at Blue Diamond road.  Lots of traffic in town due to Nascar so we headed west on Blue Diamond to Dean Martin drive.  This is a nice north/south side road that only the locals know about.  We took it north then had to get to the east side of the strip so we headed over on Tropicana to Koval then north and Flamingo west to LINQ road and then into the back entrance to the Harrahs self park.  Unlike all the folks jostling for low floor parking, we head straight to the roof where there is plenty of parking and The Beast sits comfortably there.

We head out on foot to Ballys where we take in the WSOP events taking place.  Got to see Dennis Phillips playing and in the  money for the main event.  R.P. was in heaven walking around and trying to reconcile the WSOP ONLINE reporting with the actual game going on.  She chatted in person with Molly from WSOP reporting and got all her questions answered.

We both got hungry so we headed of to Sbarros pizza in the Ballys food court.  OK pizza, but greasy, just what we were craving as we downed our slices pretty quick.

We headed back out on the strip for our nightly people watching and made our way to the LINQ.  We are so glad to see the town busy and have fun watching all the Nascar fanatics.  Tim Watts from youtube fame (thetrooper97) deals at the LINQ and as we walk in the door we say hi to him.  He recognizes R.P. from her twitter handle and says hi (she interacts better on twitter than I do).  They deal an interesting 1/1 blind no limit Texas Hold ‘Em game there.  They have enough names on the list and we get seated at a brand new table.  This is our ideal situation as everyone starts out equal with no monster chip stacks.  We play for a while while feeling out our table mates and learning their quirks.  Tim rotates through the table and we chat during his 20 minutes.  I enjoy talking to him as he is full of energy and passion for his production of his youtube channel.

During Tim’s first rotation through, a 30 something man sits to my right. I immediately peg his British accent and catch that Tim called him Marlon.  Marlon(he pronounced it as Mar-lawn) and I strike up a conversation and spend the rest of the night discussing everything from hotels to accents.  He tells me he is an actor in from Manchester and is here on holiday.  He has some time to himself before traveling to meet his girlfriend who is flying in to L.A.  He helps explain some British euphemisms and I notice his accent less as the night wears on.  He is here on the cheap and is moving from hotel to hotel to keep his expense down.  I give him some ideas for sightseeing in the area that don’t include gambling as he is returning with his girlfriend after she gets to L.A.

We get up and leave the LINQ at about 1 am and collect The Beast and head straight down the strip to where Piper is waiting for us with her welcoming porch light and warm bed.
