Vacation 2021

It’s that time of the year again!

Due to still being in Covid-19 weirdness, we planned, scheduled and paid for RV parks in advance. A Western Trip through Oregon, California and Nevada. No hurries, No worries, just a nice easy relaxing roll through some new places and some old favorites. Big change this year though, we decided to bring the jerk with us. Yep, Mr. Jones Morse Jackson is taking the trip with us. We have been taking him on weekend outings in Piper and he seems to like being with us in the truck as well as being his normal jerk self in the fifth wheel.

We rolled out of home headed south with a full tank, full bellies and hopes of relaxation in our minds.

Our first destination is a new park for us in Oregon along highway 89. We cruise south on Interstate 5 taking our time and enjoying the drive through the lovely green countryside. Lunch takes us onto a bi-way leading to the Ankenny Hill National Wildlife Refuge looking for a scenic area to eat, relax and let Mr. Jones unwind in Piper. Alas, driving down the road, we come to a sign at the entrance to the refuge stating that it is closed (boo, hiss). We did see a sign advertising wineries, so (after a neatly executed three point turn) we head on down the road to the Coria estates winery. We see signs warning of reservations required and call their number to leave a voice mail saying who we are and where we are (at their old tasting room parking area) and then we pop the slides and make lunch. During lunch a very nice older man pulls up and honks his horn. I jump out and contact him and discover that he thought we might be a relative of his. I also discover that he is the owner. We chat for a few minutes and he says the tasting room (up on the hill) is open and after he leaves, we take off on foot for a nice walk and an opportunity to buy some wine.

Back on the road south and then a turn onto highway 58 at Pleasant Hill and east through the Oregon hills to the little town of Westfir where we find ourselves at Casey’s Riverside RV Park. This beautiful RV park is right on the bank of the Willamette River and Laura came out to the truck to check us in then directed us to our site where we find ourselves backed in to a space that is literally 20 feet from this beautiful body of water. All the sites are paved and fairly level. The park is just that, park like and inviting. They even have soft serve ice cream for a buck!

We drifted off to sleep with the sound of the rushing river steps from our heads with visions of the weeks ahead of travel and visiting with friends and family.
