The Beast is born

So, I have been wanting a pickup truck for a couple years.  I bought a (new to me) 2007 1/2 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ 2500HD extended cab with the Duramax and Allison 6 speed transmission.  This truck has the full 8 foot bed.  The previous owner bought it new and added 1 ton springs, airbags, 16k fifth wheel mount and a rolling rigid tonneau cover.  He traded it in on a new truck and left all the modifications on the truck.  I purchased it from the reputable new/used Chevy dealer and got the benefit of lifetime (3 times a year) oil changes.

I brought the truck home on May 22….Happy Birthday to me!

I really like my truck and have used it non-stop since buying it.  It tows my boat very easily and definitely hauls a lot of stuff.  My wife has driven it exactly twice.  Upon driving the loomig 14414139224511034726544truck she immediately named it “THE BEAST”.  well, it is big and imposing and the turbo snarls as it spools up.

So, we come to August…our linen wedding anniversary and my wife presented me with custom made truck towels embroidered with THE BEAST on them. Hmmmmm, theme waiting to happen?  We are off on our annual roadtrip/vacation starting next week and since Beast gets great mileage and the price of diesel is lower than regular gasoline by at least 10 cents per gallon, we have decided to take him as our transportation.

I have done a rough estimate and we will going at least 4100 miles.  On the way we will be travelling through Oregon, California, Arizona and Nevada. So I think I am going to run with the theme…..

THE BEAST WANDERS: Come along with us as we travel.  Will add pictures and blog along the way.
