2020 vacation news
Just a warning, We are in remote enough places that uploading photos to the internet is almost impossible. Text seems to go through just fine (sometimes) but any type of real data is out of the question so there will be no photos attached to posts until I can get into “good” upload speeds.
After a hearty breakfast at home and some last minute packing, there was a teary goodbye to the cat and we got this show on the road.
At a fruit stop in Thorp we got a request to help a trucker cuz we have a ladder and the right tools. We kind of felt sorry for the guy, his refrigeration unit ran out of water on his trailer and he couldn’t reach it nor did he have the right size socket. I may not have anything bigger than 3/4 inch but I have almost everything else in my tool kit onboard. he offered to pay for the equipment use and of course we refused, feeling it our duty to help out an independent business man.
We pulled in for lunch at Vantage. This is a great little public boat launch and picnic area. Homemade sandwiches and fruit along the columbia river on a beautiful sunny day, doesn’t get much better than that!
We were originally going to boondock in Spokane at the Camping World but we arrived to 90 degree heat and one of the reasons to have Piper is to avoid discomfort. So we got online and found the Tamarack RV park and got there in time for a nice walk around and dinner on our grill. The Tamarack RV park in Ceour D’Alene ID is a nice park with full hookups, back ins, pull thrus, and a number of full time spots with nice neighbors. The sites are a little close on many of them, as this park was designed and built in the days before slide outs. basic free wifi with marginal signal as everyone is on it…free cable, pick up a box at office. The staff is friendly and the park is very clean.
We got up on day two and, after a great breakfast and cup of coffee from our new Bialetti Moka coffee pot we hit the road. Just a side note about the Bialetti…We experienced these as our only coffee pots during our adventure in Italy last year. They are very simple to use and make a great strong cup o’ coffee. They only require a flame source, water and finely ground beans and within 5 minutes your morning jolt is ready.
Into Montana and straight through for hours…Interstate 90 is kinda boring. We decided not to “iron ass” this trip, so leisure travel and frequent stops are our mantra. Eventually we pulled into the Sentinel Alpaca Ranch in Belgrade. This place is a very friendly member of the HarvestHosts network and our very first time using this service.
