Tulalip resort
A short excursion to Tulalip Resort.
Well, RP’s birthday was Sunday and when I asked her what her desire was she said to not have to work anymore…..so we went to Tulalip resort and casino. The drive is exactly 100 miles from home.
The arrival and check in at Tulalip is fairly straightforward. Go to the hotel valet, drop off the vehicle and if you have bags, they also have a good bell staff. Head inside to the welcoming hotel lobby where the Welcome Man totem is waiting for you. This lobby is themed for the tribal experience and I think it hits the mark. There is a gift shop, a lounge, the obligatory casino players club desk and a very appealing pool area that is a glassed in area. The hotel desk is staffed by friendly folks and check in is a breeze. They do keep a credit card number for you for incidental charges but will accept cash upon checkout.
You walk around the side from the desk and enter the elevator banks. 6 elevators that will only operate after you have slid your active room key into the slot, what a nice security feature! Exiting the elevator on your floor leads you into a little foyer and then into the hallway. Instead of just your standard hall, the native theme continues with vibrant colors and displays of native custom artworks.
We always choose a deluxe king room. Upon entry into the room you are in a small entry hall with the native theme continuing, a small cedar rose on the side table, a nice painting on the wall. You walk past the hall closet with the safe in it and then immediately to you side is the serving station with a pod (a coffee grind made for Tulalip) coffee maker and all the amenities. A minibar (which we never opt for), a bottle of Tulalip labeled wine(charge item) and some glasses along with no charge bottled water. The bed is nice and there is a 37 inch flat screen TV on the dresser. A desk and office chair for your business needs. A seating area with upholstered arm chairs, table, ottoman and chaise lounge. They provide a clock radio and the blackout curtains are pretty good (we slept till after daybreak). The bathroom is a nice change. You enter through a sliding glass “barn door” into the makeup area which holds two sinks and a seated makeup table with a mirror. The shower is a glass enclosed walk in with three heads on the wall for a full body experience. One thing that is near to our hearts is a separate water closet for the commode and they provide that here (we have one at home). The towels are fluffy and each room comes with logo robes for your relaxing pleasure.
Along with the room you get a number of other amenities. Use of the pool/hot tub, spa with sauna and workout equipment, free wifi, a paper in the morning (USA TODAY).
All in all the accommodations at the Tulalip Hotel are welcoming and comfortable. It is on the expensive side (especially on Friday and Saturday), but not overly exorbitant for the comfort level.
Attached to the hotel is of course the full casino experience with all your favorite slots, table games and the attendant restaurants, bars and entertainment. We come for the poker room and the live games here, which we feel are worth the drive from home.
