Poker day
Some days you just want to be indoors out of the rain.
E and I decided to hit the Fortune Poker room in Renton, Washington. We had our first visit there about three weeks ago and had fun but it was not a profitable trip.
We headed north for the hour long drive and got to the room about half an hour into their Saturday tournament. This means the parking lot was full to overflow, literally. They have an overflow parking area at another building about half a block away. It’s not a long walk and you enter the room.
This room has 15 tables and runs almost any game you want to play. Regular listed games include 4/8 limit he, 8/16 limit he, 1/3 nlhe, 3/5 nlhe and 4/8 Omaha 8/b. There is always plenty of action and they will open a new table as soon as the list warrants it and they have a dealer available.
We signed up for the 1/3 nlhe game and waited about 15 minutes until they opened a new table. Players quickly filled the table and the game commenced. There were the usual suspects at the table…The two older Asian men, the four middle aged white men who really wanted to play higher stakes, the young aggressive guy and E and I.
Fairly soon after we sat, the agro guy found out that the high limit guys would re-raise and play him hard. Everything settled down after a while as everyone became familiar with each others play. Money changed hands and a few of the players changed as the high limit guys got moved to their preferred game. We enjoyed a good session and ate at the table. Fortune has a good all-around menu and the food is well prepared and delivered promptly. I found the wait staff to be regularly attentive even though they were very busy.
The dealers here are very professional. I witnessed 2 exposed cards during dealing and both were caused by a player reaching for cards. One of my personal pet peeves is when a dealer spends more time paying attention to a “buddy” player than to the game. This doesn’t happen at Fortune. I saw dealers greeting regular players as well as new players. They never let the table talk or banter interfere with the game or their directing the game. Big Kudos to them for this.
There are no players cards here, no “rewards” club. The menu prices are fair without this “perk”. As far as bonus games…they do have a bad beat, high hand and big hand payout. They do take a little larger rake to pay for these bonus hands but unlike some other houses they don’t take a rake unless there is play..”no flop, no drop”.
Ollie enjoyed some Instagram and twitter time for the
https://flynnandollie.com/ account with a couple of chip porn shots. See the Chronicle for a full evaluation of Fortune poker and our trip to Marianno’s Italian for a celebratory dinner.
We will return to our regularly requested outdoor programming soon.
See ya next time and remember “There is no try, Only do”
