Snowmageddon 2019
As I write this the remains of our historic snowfall still lingers on our yard.
We awoke Saturday February 9 to a deep blanket of snow. Remember that we sit at about 150 feet above sea level here at the house. E had to head off to work early and left the first tracks in the snow. I later got out to shovel the landing pad in front of the garage and discovered that we had received a fall of 11 inches overnight!
We lost power at some point but that’s no sweat since we wired our house for a generator and I keep it ready to go in the winter. The power company said we lost an entire sub-station due to the volume of snow.
The snow was supposed to turn to rain but didn’t… The next wave through dropped another 11 inches of snow! We wound up with a total of just over 24 inches for the combined storms. Way out of character for our area.
It was beautiful to see! I wound up giving E a ride to work after the snow got too deep for her Angry Bird and it was on my way in. Now we are just down to the dirty remnants, no longer pretty…
Even in this weather, we were able to get outside and enjoy our surroundings. I spent some time in Capitol State Forest at the Porter Falls hiking along the river.
